How to use

    Drop the videos you want to shrink. Works well for screen recordings and phone footage.

    Set quality, resolution and frame rate

    Lower quality means a smaller file. Dropping to 720p and 30 fps alone makes a big difference. Remove the audio if you do not need it.

    After processing you see the original and compressed sizes and the reduction. Adjust and run again if the quality is not enough.

Settings with the biggest effect

Resolution matters most: 4K to 1080p quarters the pixel count, 1080p to 720p roughly halves it. Next is quality (bitrate); "Low" gives about 60% of "Medium". Dropping from 60 to 30 fps also helps for screen recordings with little motion.

For screen recordings that do not need sound, "Remove audio" saves more. For fast-moving game or sports footage, lowering quality causes visible blocking, so reduce resolution instead to preserve the look.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will it get?

A 1080p phone video (about 100 MB per minute) comes down to roughly 15–25 MB at 720p and “Low” quality. The reduction is shown after processing. Videos saved from X (Twitter) with X Video Downloader can be compressed as they are.

How much quality is lost?

"Medium" is hard to notice on screen; "Low" is fine on a phone but shows softer detail on a large display.

How long does it take?

With a hardware encoder, a 10-minute video takes about 1–2 minutes. Devices that fall back to software encoding may take about as long as the video itself.

Does it handle portrait video?

Yes. Resolution is applied to the shorter side, so choosing 720p makes a portrait video 720 px wide. Rotation metadata is preserved.
