How to use

    Drop the audio whose volume you want to even out. Several files can be matched to the same target.

    Peak matches the loudest point to the target; RMS matches the average level. Use RMS to make several recordings sound equally loud.

    After processing you see the gain applied in dB. RMS mode never clips.

Peak versus RMS

Peak normalization applies gain so the loudest sample reaches the target (default −1 dBFS). It never clips, but a single loud moment can keep the overall level low.

RMS normalization matches the average level to the target (default −18 dBFS) and is the better choice for making several recordings sound equally loud. If the required gain would push the peak above 0 dBFS, it is automatically limited, so no clipping occurs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make several files the same loudness?

Yes. Add them all and run with the same target: RMS mode matches average loudness, peak mode matches maximum level.

Will it clip?

No. Peak mode keeps the peak at or below the target, and RMS mode limits the gain so the peak never exceeds 0 dBFS.

Is LUFS supported?

Currently it is a simple RMS-based loudness measure. It is not strictly the broadcast LUFS standard (EBU R128), but −18 dBFS RMS corresponds roughly to −16 to −18 LUFS.

How much can a quiet recording be lifted?

There is no cap, but large gains also raise background noise by the same amount. The applied gain is shown afterwards; if it exceeds about +20 dB, consider re-recording at a higher level.

What is sent

The tool you used and the settings you chose (output format, quality, etc.), your device specs (GPU, memory, core count), the input format with a rough size, how many files succeeded or failed and how long it took, and the error type and details when something fails.

What is never sent

The files themselves, file names, text, subtitles or prompts you add to a video, and IP addresses. The data goes only to this site's own server, never to a third-party service.
