Split a PDF and extract pages
Extract the pages you need from a PDF, or split it into separate PDFs page by page or every N pages, for free. There is no usage limit. Your PDF is processed in your browser and never uploaded. You can open PDFs of up to 200 MB per file (100 MB on phones and tablets).
You can open one PDF at a time (up to 200 MB on this device). The PDF is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Choose "Extract pages", "Every page", "Every N pages" or "Split at chosen points", then set the pages or points.

About splitting PDFs
There are four ways to split: "Extract pages", "Every page", "Every N pages" and "Split at chosen points". For "Extract pages", select pages in the list or type them into the "Pages to extract" box, such as "1-3,5". When the result is two or more PDFs, you can save them one by one or together as a ZIP file.
Each split PDF gets back only the bookmarks that point to pages it contains. When you split a password-protected PDF, each new PDF gets the same open password and restrictions as the original.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF sent to a server?
No. Opening, splitting and saving the PDF all happen in the browser on your device. Statistics that help us fix bugs (ranges of page counts and output file counts, error types and so on) are sent to this site's server. They do not include the content of the PDF, file names, passwords or the page ranges you enter. You can turn the statistics off with the "Send processing statistics" switch at the bottom of the page.
Can I split password-protected PDFs or PDFs with editing restrictions?
Yes. A password-protected PDF opens once you enter its open password. If the author has restricted page editing, you cannot split it until you enter the permissions password. This tool does not guess passwords, so if you do not know the permissions password, ask the person who created the PDF. Each split PDF gets the same open password and the same restrictions as the original, but if you opened the original by entering the permissions password in the "Password to open" field, that permissions password becomes the password to open each split PDF.
Does splitting change anything from the original PDF?
Yes. Each file gets back only the bookmarks that point to its own pages. Tags (the structure used by screen readers) are removed, digital signatures become invalid, and form field contents are written into the page. The shapes of characters and other content from pages that went into other files may remain in fonts, images and other resources shared between pages, and outside the visible area of the pages (for example, cropped pages or split from a two-page spread). If there is content you do not want others to see, redacting with "Remove more thoroughly (turn the page into an image)" selected in the Redact PDF tool leaves only the visible part on that page.
Is there anything this tool must not be used for?
Yes. Splitting and distributing documents created by others without the author's permission is prohibited. Do not give extracted pages to others as if they were the whole original document.
Help us improve the service
If a conversion fails, sending us the circumstances helps us track down the cause. Knowing which devices and formats fail most often, and how long processing takes, lets us revise the supported formats and fix the bugs behind them. If you don't mind, leaving this on is a real help.
