When WebP will not open
More and more images saved from websites are .webp, and older versions of Photoshop and office software cannot open them. Converting to PNG makes them open almost everywhere.
PNG is lossless, so nothing is lost in the conversion, and transparency is kept. If a photo becomes too large as PNG, convert to JPG instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is quality lost?
No. PNG is lossless and stores the decoded WebP exactly.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. A transparent WebP becomes a transparent PNG.
Can I convert animated WebP?
Only the first frame is converted as a still image. Converting animations as such is not supported.
Why is the file larger?
The WebP was shrunk with lossy compression and PNG expands it losslessly. Photos can grow 5–10 times. Choose JPG to keep the size down.

What is sent
The tool you used and the settings you chose (output format, quality, etc.), your device specs (GPU, memory, core count), the input format with a rough size, how many files succeeded or failed and how long it took, and the error type and details when something fails.
What is never sent
The files themselves, file names, text, subtitles or prompts you add to a video, and IP addresses. The data goes only to this site's own server, never to a third-party service.
