Merge PDF files

Combine several PDFs into one PDF in the order you want, for free. There is no usage limit. Your PDFs are processed in your browser and never uploaded. You can merge up to 50 files and 200 MB in total at a time (100 MB on phones and tablets).

Checking your environment…

On this device you can open up to 200 MB of PDFs in total at once. The PDF is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

About merging PDFs

Drag the handle on the left of each file in the list to change the order. To merge only some pages of a file, type a range in its "Pages to use" box or pick them with "Choose pages". The pages of the merged PDF follow the order of the list from top to bottom.

Bookmarks from the original PDFs are added back to the merged PDF. For PDFs with form fields, the field contents are written into the page before merging. When you merge password-protected PDFs, the new PDF gets the same open password and restrictions as the originals. PDFs whose open passwords differ from each other cannot be merged into one.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF sent to a server?

No. Opening, merging and saving PDFs all happen in the browser on your device. Statistics that help us fix bugs (ranges of file and page counts, error types and so on) are sent to this site's server. They do not include the content of the PDFs, file names, passwords or the page ranges you enter. You can turn the statistics off with the "Send processing statistics" switch at the bottom of the page.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs or PDFs with editing restrictions?

Yes. A password-protected PDF opens once you enter its open password. If the author has restricted page editing, you cannot merge it until you enter the permissions password. This tool does not guess passwords, so if you do not know the permissions password, ask the person who created the PDF. The merged PDF gets the same open password and the same restrictions as the originals, but if you opened them by entering the permissions password in the "Password to open" field, that permissions password becomes the password to open the merged PDF.

Does merging change anything from the original PDFs?

Yes. Bookmarks are added back, tags (the structure used by screen readers) are removed, and digital signatures become invalid. Form field contents are written into the page, so the fields can no longer be edited. When you merge only some pages, the shapes of characters and other content from the pages you left out may remain in fonts, images and other resources shared between pages, and outside the visible area of the pages (for example, cropped pages or split from a two-page spread). If there is content you do not want others to see, redacting with "Remove more thoroughly (turn the page into an image)" selected in the Redact PDF tool leaves only the visible part on that page.

Is there anything this tool must not be used for?

Yes. Rearranging and distributing documents created by others without the author's permission is prohibited. Do not give a merged PDF to others as if it had always been a single document.

Help us improve the service

If a conversion fails, sending us the circumstances helps us track down the cause. Knowing which devices and formats fail most often, and how long processing takes, lets us revise the supported formats and fix the bugs behind them. If you don't mind, leaving this on is a real help.

What is sent

  • The tool you used and the settings you chose (output format, quality, etc.)
  • Your device specs (GPU, memory, core count)
  • The input format with a rough size
  • How many files succeeded or failed and how long it took
  • The error type and details when something fails

What is never sent

  • The files themselves and file names
  • Text, subtitles or prompts you add to a video
  • The text to be read aloud, voice descriptions, the pronunciation dictionary and saved voices
  • The text in PDFs, the text you rewrote or redacted, passwords, font names and the page ranges you enter
  • IP addresses

The data goes only to this site's own server, never to a third-party service.
