Crop the margins of a PDF
Trim the margins of PDF pages to narrow the visible area, for free. There is no usage limit. Your PDF is processed in your browser and never uploaded. Content outside the crop is no longer visible, but it stays in the PDF. You can open PDFs of up to 200 MB per file (100 MB on phones and tablets).
You can open one PDF at a time (up to 200 MB on this device). The PDF is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

About cropping PDFs
With "Set by hand" under "How to set margins", enter the top, bottom, left and right margins in mm or drag the frame in the preview. "Auto (same margins)" detects the white margins and applies margins that cut no page's content to all the pages to crop. "Auto (per page)" detects the white margins of each page and crops each page separately. Under "Pages to crop", choose all pages, odd pages, even pages or the pages you select.
Cropping changes only the information about the visible area of each page. Because the page content is not changed, text and images outside the crop stay in the PDF and may be found by searching or copying text. If there is content you do not want others to see, delete it with the redaction tool. The original PDF's encryption, bookmarks, form fields and tags stay as they are.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF sent to a server?
No. Opening, cropping and saving the PDF all happen in the browser on your device. Statistics that help us fix bugs (the page count range, the range of how many pages were cropped, how the margins were set, error types and so on) are sent to this site's server. They do not include the content of the PDF, file names, passwords, margin values or the page ranges you enter. You can turn the statistics off with the "Send processing statistics" switch at the bottom of the page.
Can I crop a password-protected PDF or one with editing restricted?
Yes. A password-protected PDF opens once you enter its open password. If the author has restricted changing the content, you cannot crop it until you enter the permissions password. This tool does not guess passwords, so if you do not know the permissions password, ask the person who created the PDF. The original PDF's encryption stays as it is in the saved PDF.
Is the content outside the crop deleted?
No. Cropping changes only the visible area of each page, so text and images outside it stay in the PDF. They are not visible in PDF viewers, but they may be found by searching or copying text, or by editing the PDF in another app. Delete content you do not want others to see with the redaction tool before you share the PDF.
Can the margins of a scanned PDF be detected automatically?
Yes. However, white areas are detected as margins, so in scans where the paper came out gray or yellow, the margins may not be found. In that case, enter the margins with "Set by hand". When margins are detected, at least the width set in "Space to keep around the content" is left around the content before cropping (a little more may be left because of detection error).
Help us improve the service
If a conversion fails, sending us the circumstances helps us track down the cause. Knowing which devices and formats fail most often, and how long processing takes, lets us revise the supported formats and fix the bugs behind them. If you don't mind, leaving this on is a real help.
