Add text to a video
A title for a clip you post, a date or credit on a recording you share. The text is drawn onto the frames, so it looks the same in every player. Videos never leave your device.

Add videos
Drop the videos you want to caption. You can add the same text to several videos at once.

Set the text and position
Choose the text, one of 9 positions, the size and the color. “Black outline” or “Translucent bar” keeps it readable on bright backgrounds. To show it only for a part of the video, fill in show from / until.

Run and save
Every frame is drawn and re-encoded, so it takes time proportional to the video length.
What it can and cannot do
One line of text goes in one of 9 positions, sized as a percentage of the video height. Long text that would overflow is shrunk automatically. “Black outline” and “Translucent bar” keep it readable on bright footage, and show from / until limits it to the opening, the ending or any range.
It does not switch text over time like subtitles (one text per video). To add several, run the exported video through this tool again. Japanese is drawn with Noto Sans JP; other scripts use your device's fonts.
Frequently asked questions
Are videos uploaded to a server?
No. Both the drawing and the re-encoding happen inside your browser.
Can I load a subtitle file (SRT)?
Not at the moment. One text per video, shown during the range you set.
The text looks small
“Text size” is a percentage of the video height. It looks relatively small on portrait videos, so raise it to around 10%.
Does quality drop?
Drawing the text requires re-encoding. With “Quality” at High or above the difference is barely visible.
Help us improve the service
If a conversion fails, sending us the circumstances helps us track down the cause. Knowing which devices and formats fail most often, and how long processing takes, lets us revise the supported formats and fix the bugs behind them. If you don't mind, leaving this on is a real help.
What is sent
The tool you used and the settings you chose (output format, quality, etc.), your device specs (GPU, memory, core count), the input format with a rough size, how many files succeeded or failed and how long it took, and the error type and details when something fails.
What is never sent
The files themselves, file names, text, subtitles or prompts you add to a video, and IP addresses. The data goes only to this site's own server, never to a third-party service.
