PNG versus WebP
WebP, developed by Google, supports both lossy and lossless modes plus transparency. As a PNG replacement it is often 50–80% smaller at the same appearance, which directly improves Core Web Vitals such as LCP.
Every major browser now displays WebP. Some older apps and office software cannot open it, though, so keep PNG if the images are mainly used outside the web.

Is transparency kept?
Yes. WebP supports transparency and the PNG alpha channel is converted as-is.
Is quality lost?
The default quality of 80 is lossy, so there is a slight change, though rarely visible on screen. For logos and icons where you accept no loss, set quality to 100.
How much smaller does it get?
PNGs with photos or gradients can shrink by over 80%. Icons and diagrams with few colours typically shrink 30–50%.
Where can WebP not be displayed?
All current browsers support it. Some older image viewers and email clients do not, so use PNG or JPG for images distributed outside the web.

What is sent
The tool you used and the settings you chose (output format, quality, etc.), your device specs (GPU, memory, core count), the input format with a rough size, how many files succeeded or failed and how long it took, and the error type and details when something fails.
What is never sent
The files themselves, file names, text, subtitles or prompts you add to a video, and IP addresses. The data goes only to this site's own server, never to a third-party service.
